I love films. I really do, they have the power to entertain, provoke internal questions or just make you laugh. My previous post was pretty heavy, so I’ve decided to keep today light. I’ve made a list of films I’ve seen that I think you should either watch, or consider watching. Also, I’ll be continuing this later, and I hate horrors / thrillers.
Comedy / Drama
> Forgetting Sarah Marshall
About a normal guy who dates a famous actress, and then breaks up with her. Extremely funny, but a little dodge at times, and also very dry.
> Madagascar
I loved this animation. And I don’t care what people say, it was NOT a children’s movie. Way too much adult content…
> Shrek
Classic. If you haven’t seen it there are three, and you need to see them all.
> Bruce Almighty
Jim Carey did a great job in this one. It really helps you to see things for what they are, which is organized. Mostly.
> Evan Almighty
I liked this one too. It was a ‘sequel’ to the second one, but less funny and more thought provoking. Lots of lessons to be learnt.
Action / Drama
> V for Vendetta
Based on a graphic model, it’s about a man who inspires a group of people to stand for ideals, and their beliefs.
> Lord of the Rings (All of them)
I have the read the book and it was awesome. I saw the movies and they were just as good. I actually met someone who hasn’t seen these the other day, and I’ve refused to speak to him since. Not seeing LOTR is evil.
> Star Wars (All of them)
Another brilliant series, even if you don’t enjoy Sci Fi you should see these. Very well written with great action and some interesting parallels to modern religions.
> Equilibrium
A story about the future where no one is allowed to feel emotion. The film shows the journey of a guy who goes from feeling no emotion, to being overrun with all types of sadness and joy, and then experiences desperation and no emotion at the same time. Brilliant performance from Christian Bale.
> Kill Bill Volumes
Mindless action, which turns out to be less mindless than you think. It’s very VERY violent but worth watching.
> Collateral
Interesting film about a hitman and a cab driver. I enjoyed the blue filters and green filters in different parts of the movie. Tom Cruise actually looks really good with grey hair and a grey suit.
> Snatch
Fairly complicated film involving various stories blended into each other. Very funny, but with some action. Worth seeing. It is very dry humor though.
> Batman The Dark Knight
The second Batman film in the new series. I love Batman, he’s my favorite superhero by far, and this film is a great one. One of the best acting performances of all time. Thank you Heath Ledger.
> 300
A brilliant action film. Extremely well done, with a good story.
Thought Provoking
> The Fountain
Very interesting movie, which is open to individual interpretation. I won’t give anything away, but when you’ve seen it contact me and we’ll chat.
> Crash
Wow, brilliant story which includes multiple plots which address stereotypes. How they are created, broken and molded

ReplyDeleteWow, I love your taste in movies... And music as well to some extent. Ever watched Children of Men? Or Green Street Hooligans? And Superbad is defintely my favourite comedy EVER and I'm not overrating it.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Have you asked around about guitar tutors?
