I love art. I really do. For me it's more than just a drawing or a painting or whatever, it's the emotion it evokes in a person, but that is only part of the story. When I look at art I always try and work out a story. What was the artist thinking about? Or trying to tell us?
One of my favorite things to do is to look at a picture until I figure out what the artist was thinking about at the time. Like if it's a painting, I like to look at the colours, and the brush strokes. How did he / she paint it, in what order. Where does everything fit in. His thoughts are what made the emotion accessible, but feeling the emotion isn't enough for me. I want to understand the emotion. For me that's what it is all about.
Here's one of my favorite pictures:
I looked at this picture for a while and it was wonderful. This painting is the story of man's greed leading to his own self destruction even though he hates his own actions. Look at the birds flying away, the tie and suit, the reflection in his goggles and the flames.
Wonderful. Anyway, what do you love? I know yesterday's post was about love to, but it's important. I am awful at art, painting or drawing or whatever, but that doesn't mean that I don't love it. So give it a thought and have a great time.

I like the way you like to see the artists reasons and emotions in painting a certain peice...
ReplyDeleteAlot of the time, i like to see what it stirs up inside of me. I think as an artist myself, not an amzing one, but i love to paint, its imporatant that the viewer comes up with their own interpretation too...
I get more satisfaction in seeing someone saw something completely different in what I intended for the painting to mean....
It makes the art peice belong to that person then...
Art, hmmm, something i should make more time for at the moment! Need my own space!
